Ricky Seaman is a hyper-polyglot traveller, documentary filmmaker and former global affairs analyst. He holds a Master's in International Affairs, has lived in nine countries, travelled to more than one hundred, and studied eight languages. He does not visit countries. He disappears into them, speaking the local language and finding the story behind the meal.
Based in New York City but rarely there, Ricky created Off The Table to do at scale what he has always done by instinct: sit at a stranger's table, eat what they eat, speak how they speak, and let the conversation go somewhere honest.
There are 197 countries in the world. More people have been to space than have been to all of them. Ricky is on a mission to reach every one and bring back a single human story from each, the kind that does not make the headlines.
That instinct, food as a passport and language as a key, is exactly what Off The Table is built on. The years on the road, from the Pacific atolls of Kiribati and Nauru to Chad, Greenland and the Marshall Islands, are the training ground for what the series does on camera.
The pilot takes Ricky into the Brazilian Amazon. Help get it made, and pull up a chair for the rest of the journey.
